Production Name Ideas- Group

For our production name ideas we did these separately and put all our ideas together, after we got all the different production name ideas together we chose one production name and this was narrowed down to 'MoonLight Studio'. We then added 'Production' and 'Entertainment' and the end and decided which one sounded better and as a group we thought 'MoonLight Entertainment' sounded the best.

Production name and logo ideas- Nitisha

These are my 3 design ideas for production names/logos.

I thought of this idea because I had scanned through a few production names and they had the word entertainment at the end. I thought of 'Coloured Entertainment' as a production name because films, shows etc. will be made in colour and also because it makes the productions name memorable.

I used this kind of font because it goes with the name. For example, threads can be made into any type of pattern and doesn't have to be a straight line, this is shown the the curves on the 'T' and 'S'.

I chose this name because I thought it fitted in well as a production name because people usually watch movies at night, which is when the moon is out. I added a moon next to the name because it goes with the production name.

Production Logo- Nitisha

This is our Production Logo for MoonLight Entertainment. We thought the moon linked in well with the name and we chose this colour as it was a colour that suited both genders not just one.

Synopsis- Krishan

Our work is based on a teen horror. There will be shocking images such as blooded scenes. The scenes are going to flow from people getting chased in the forest. They are running as fast as they can because they know that if they are caught it will be all over for them. They reach the middle of the forest and happen to come across a haunted house…

Film Pitch for 'Dark Nights'- Nitisha

Film pitch:

A young teenage boy with his friends. Friends enemy chases them and one guy gets killed. Will the other two be able to escape? (24 words)

Iconography- Krishan

What to include:
·         Knives
·         Blood
·         Chasing scene
·         Darkness
·         Woods
·         Trees
·         Victims – wearing bright colours (symbolising)
·         Main chaser –wearing all blacked (symbolising)

What’s happening in our opening sequence?

The camera will face the victims and there will be a an antagonist dressed fully in black running past. The victims get scared and look around to see who it is and what is going on. The chaser pops out and looks at the victims, the victims look back at him. The victims start to run and the antagonist antagonist them with a knife. Victims get chased for a while and one gets caught and injured as the antagonist stabs them with the knife.

Storyboard- Nitisha and Shivani

Mise-en-scene- Nitisha

Location:
Horror movies are usually set in fearful places. Most events in horror movies happen in the night. There are loads of different places a horror movie can we set, for example, isolated places, small communities, parks, forests, haunted houses etc. In teen horror the settings would include places that teenagers would hang out every day or most days.

The reason we never used a dark setting was because we didn’t have the right equipment to show the scenes properly as the quality of the movie wouldn’t come out correctly due to less lighting in the park and tree walkways. It still counts as an opening sequence as not all horror movies have to be set in dark places.
We chose our setting to be a park; this was because teenagers love to hang out with their friends at the park. We also used a tree walk way, this is a place that can be walked through but it’s also surrounded with loads of trees.

Characters:
In teen horror movies usually there is at least one girl in the film. There is also an antagonist who is the bad guy/girl and the protagonist who is the good guy/girl. In teen horror movies there’s usually a group of friends and the main characters are shown in the movie often.

We used two guys as protagonists and one girl as the protagonist because we thought that many people fitted well in an opening sequence. There was one antagonist who was going after only one person.
Before we chose our characters we interviewed them to see if they fitted the role for each character and if they would be good at acting. The three protagonists we chose were good for the role because they had past experience in films.

Props:

There is a range of props that can be used in horror films, such as, masks, knives, saws, blood, axe, blades etc. These are used to signify horror movies. These connotate fear, violence, murder, terror, danger etc.

Shot List- Nitisha

This is the first draft for the shot list.

This is our final draft for our shot list. We made minor changes to this from before due to the fact that we did not shoot our scenes in the dark therefore some shot types were inappropriate

Shooting Schedule- Krishan

This is our shooting schedule, these were the three days we used to shoot our film opening sequence. We needed all three days because on the second day of our shooting it started to rain, therefore we used our third day which was our back-up in case something like this did happen.

Soundtrack Analysis - Shivani

Throughout the opening I noticed that there were many different types of sounds that were used throughout the extract, However, most of all the sound used in this extract is conventional because we can tell that there is suspense and tension building up gradually, right from the beginning of the extract. The sound are constantly changing throughout the extract as we can see that the music changes from high to low quite often. This type of sound would be very good to use in a teen horror opening sequence because right from the beginning we can tell that something horrible and terrifying is going to happen, just based on hearing the sound of the music that is used throughout the extract.
From hearing the sound that is gradually building up suspense and tension, this is something that teenagers would like to hear in teen horror films, however not only that but the this type of sound was attract the audience even further because it gets their adrenaline going. The way the sound has been flowed throughout as there is consistency of the sound hints out to the audience that there is going to be action in the extract.

Target Audience profile- Krishan

In a horror movie people tend to look for jumping scenes. Scenes that will make them get off their seats. They also look for scenes of blood and either someone getting murdered. Majority of horror movies contain action in it, this action is mainly on people getting chased as they are about to be killed. Most times people cover themselves so they do not see the next seen but also peak at times to know what is happening. However for a teen horror it is less horrific as the target audience are teens, so it needs to be age appropriate. As it is a teen there will not be scenes which have a bad influence on teens.

Demographics:

·       Class: Educational class

·       Location: Harrow

·       Education: A-Levels

·       Age: 12-20

·       Race: White

Psychographics:
Hi my name is Emma. I am 16 years old and currently doing my A-Levels. I am a socialised girl and I love going to cinema with my friends. My favourite genre is horror. I have seen majority of all the horror movies that have recently come out. My favourite movie so far is conjuring, I love the scenes, I love when blood is splattered everywhere and there is a lot of action which makes me jump off my seat. The movies are even better when a child is possessed; it seems scarier as an innocent child like that can do so much.

Rough Opening Credits- Shivani

Script for 'Dark Nights' - Nitisha

Throughout the different drafts I have not only changed the way our opening sequence is going to be but I have also developed the way a scrip looks and the way it is layed out and the type of font to use in order to notice it's a script.

Cast Interview- Nitisha and Krishan

The person we interviewed in the first interview did not get the role because we didn't think they suited the role well and also because they didn't have past experience in anything that's got to do with acting in a film.

The reason to why we chose this person to be in our film was because she was a social person and she had past experience in acting because she acted in other peoples films and we thought she suited the role well.

The reason why we chose this person to act in our opening sequence is because we thought he suited the role really well and he also had past experience which also showed his courage and shows he is not shy or a bad actor.

The reason why we chose this person to be in our opening sequence was firstly, because he is a guy and mostly guys are the antagonist in the films also because he has had past experience in the acting industry so we know that he is not brand new in the acting therefore we thought he fitted the role really well.
